Sugar-Free Vegan Hot Cocoa

Brr it’s been chili around here! We’ve have snow and frigid weather. Seems like only yesterday was summer. All the better weather to escape into a cozy cup of hot cocoa.

I had some coconut cream left over from the pumpkin pie so I used that as the “milk” base.

This is stevia sweetened but if you hate stevia, feel free to use agave, sugar, or maple syrup or whatever you like. I use NuNatruals Vanilla stevia.

Sugar-Free Dairy-Free Hot Cocoa

(serves 2)

ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup coconut cream (from a can)
  • 2 cups water or non-dairy milk
  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 3/4 tsp vanilla stevia, to taste (I used NuNaturals brand)

Heat liquid and coconut cream over a stove. Bring to a simmer. Add all the ingredients and adjust sweetened as needed. Serve in two mugs.

And I’m sorry about Caturday! I think I will get it going again in the new year. Between recovering and my Etsy and making gifts, I am pretty stretched.

Now a cup of cocoa sounds good! Off to the stove I go.
